The BMW Z3 was the first modern mass-market roadster produced by BMW, as well as the first BMW model assembled in the United States at BMW's Spartanburg, South Carolina plant. This included all Z3 variants such as the z3 Coupe, M Coupe and M Roadster. After Z3 production ended BMW continued the tradition assembling the Z4 along with the X5 in Spartanburg. For the past 9 years BMW has held a homecoming celebration for all Z3, Z4, and X5 owners on labor day weekend. 2008 was the last Z3 homecoming as BMW plans to move Z4 production to Germany in 2009 to make room for the new X6. I had other plans, but a couple Z3 enthusiast friends of mine went. Here are some pictures (excuse the poor quality):
