On our last day in Florida Pat scheduled us for a tour of a local wildlife refuge. It promised to be a good photo opportunity so I cleaned up the zoom lens and we hit the road.
Grandaddy Alligator in His Own Pond
Central Florida has been plagued by a drought since September leaving most of the swamp land dry. There were a few watering holes left which were teaming with wildlife as a result.
Black Vultures
American Darter and Company
The American Darter is also known as the Snake Bird because it swims with it's head just above the water. Here's one with a fresh catch.
Wild Bore Piglets also known as Razorbacks
Juvenile Sunning Himself
Soft Shelled Turtle

(I decided it was a good time to exit the swamp)
It was a great day with a surprise at the end which I am saving for its own dedicated post. Stay tuned...
